Job Description:
We are seeking talented and experienced medium-level PHP Software Developers to join our growing team. The ideal candidates will have a passion for coding and a strong understanding of PHP development principles and the software development life-cycle. S/he will also and be proficient in designing and implementing database solutions. This role will involve collaborating with our team to design, develop, and maintain a PHP-based application that meet our clients' needs.

Responsibilities:

1. Interpret and refine software specifications.
2. Develop, test, and deploy a high-quality PHP application that interacts with the database to create dynamic web pages.
3. Design and develop database schemas for applications.
4. Collaborate with team members to design and implement solutions that meet project requirements.
5. Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
6. Stay up-to-date with the latest PHP development trends and best practices.
7. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
8. Write and maintain software documentation.

Requirements:

1. NQF Level 5+ Computer Science or a related IT qualification
2. 3+ years of professional experience in PHP development.
3. Strong understanding of PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
4. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL and other web technologies.
5. Experience with version control systems such as Git.
6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Preference will be given to citizens from the SADC region who are resident in South Africa.
9. Obtain a competent rating on the ZTQ Solutions’ battery of recruitment assessments, covering:

• Assessment 1: Cognitive skills (online, multiple-choice)
• Assessment 2: Math  (online, multiple-choice)
• Assessment 3 and 4: English comprehension (reading and audio) (online, multiple-choice)
• Assessment 5: Software development (practical)

We are currently accepting applications for a 12-month long Learnership in software development to be run in Mbombela.

Location: Mbombela - Mpumalanga Province
Demographic: 18 – 35 years old. Must live in Mbombela or near by.
Delivery: Full time (classroom delivery; online assessments; practical exercises; and work-based project)
Stipend: R2500.00 per month
Closing Date: 30 June 2024
Computer: You do not need to have your own computer device or data. ZTQ Solutions will supply you with data and a device to use at the training venue only.

Criteria:

1. Matric Certificate.

• Matric Math (NOT Math Literacy).  No less than 50%.
• Matric English (First or First Additional Language). No less than 50%.

2. Obtain an acceptable rating on the five ZTQ Solutions’ Recruitment & Selection assessments (Software Development Aptitude).
3. Be a novice software developer i.e., no prior experience or training.
4. Not be registered for ANY other full-time course.
5. RSA citizen or citizen with permanent resident status.

Required Application Documents:

1. Matric certificate/transcript (it must show your Math and English marks). If you have any tertiary level qualifications, include them as described in the “To apply” section below, however they are NOT mandatory.
2. A two-page (maximum) curriculum vitae.  List two people as character references (State their full name, contact number and relationship to you). Do not use family and friends as character references.
3. RSA ID document OR proof of permanent residents’ status.

4. Proceed to complete the online form and click next as you go.
5. When asked, upload a copy of your zipped CV.
6. When asked, upload a copy of your zipped Matric certificate (If you have any tertiary level qualifications include them in this zipped file as well.  They are not a  compulsory requirement).
7. When asked, upload a copy of your zipped RSA ID/Permanent Resident’s status.

What happens after you apply?

1. ZTQ Solutions (or our agents) will review your application and accept or reject it based on whether or not you meet the criteria. You will receive an email informing you of this decision, irrespective of if you have been accepted or not.
2. If you are accepted, you will be automatically registered as a user of the t-LMS – our learning management program. You will receive an email with your initial log in credentials. 
3. Soon thereafter, you will be enrolled on the battery of five ZTQ Solutions’ Recruitment & Selection assessments, which you need to take online, using the t-LMS. Most of the assessments are short – ten, multiple-choice questions, but two assessments have a few more questions. One assessment requires you to view a video before answering the questions.  So, make sure you have at least 200mb of data for all the assessments or otherwise you must take the assessments from the training venue. We will give you 7 days to take the assessments – no extensions will be allowed.
4. After you’ve taken the assessments, we will review the results and shortlist the successful candidates for an interview.
5. The interview will be held at the training centre in Mbombela or virtually.
6. We will notify the successful candidates of their acceptance.
7. You will be given a Learner contract to sign, scan and upload against your account on the t-LMS.
8. Wait for the course to commence.
